Before starting in the Truss Industry, Bert was a carpenter during the off-season of farming. Bert cut his teeth in the Truss Industry starting a truss plant from ground zero in 1979. In 1984 he took the plunge and started the family truss business. Bert has a degree from Trident Technical College and he enjoys breeding exotic birds in his spare time. He and his wife of over 39 years reside in the Moncks Corner area.
Jimmy has basically been in the truss business since birth, spending his youth working in every aspect of the business. Jimmy graduated from The Citadel in 1997 with a degree in Civil Engineering and went on to practice structural engineering before returning to the family business in 2001. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and licensed Residential Builder. Jimmy is married to his high school sweet heart Laura and has two children, Madison and Jay. He attends Seacoast church in Mt. Pleasant, SC and is actively involved with the fatherhood ministry leadership team.
A carpenter by trade, Jim got his start in the truss industry doing take-offs. Before joining Bert Hood in 1989 to form the predecessor to The Atlantic Group of companies, Jim managed a truss plant for five years. Jim has a degree in Business Management from Liberty University. He joined the military out of high school, and served in the National Guard for over 20 years. He and his wife of over 45 years reside in Mount Pleasant, SC.
